Body Found: Believed to be of Missing Lafayette County Teen

OXFORD, Miss.–The search for a missing Lafayette County teen appears to be over.

Stephen Tyler Emerick, 19, who has been missing since April 29 looks to have been found Monday afternoon in the Yocona River.

“It was just a male body that was found, he will be going to Jackson for an autopsy either tonight or first thing in the morning,” said Deputy Sheriff Jarrett Bundren of the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Emerick’s truck was found in the woods on May 1 about a mile from where the body was found between Grinder’s Switch and Prophet Boat Ramp according to Bundren.

His wallet, keys, and other personal belongings were found in the truck that day which makes it all the more bizarre.

Investigators would not elaborate on how Emerick could have died.
