JACKSON, Miss. — The first round of municipal elections are today. Polls open at 7 a.m. for party primaries. Some of the most hotly contested mayoral races are in Southaven, Jackson, Vicksburg and Clarksdale. Some City Council seats are up for grabs today too.
Brisk voter turnout is expected statewide; and some state workers will be monitoring some the process at some polling places. Polls close at 7 p.m.
The general election is June 4.
