Body Found Inside Burned House, How Deputies Spotted the Flames

VICKSBURG, Miss.–Just how a house about three miles east of Vicksburg caught on fire and burned Sunday evening is still being investigated, but volunteer firefighters said they found a body when they finally were able to get inside.

A Warren County deputy was on patrol when he saw smoke near Hwy. 80. Sheriff Martin Pace told media that deputy called in to the dispatcher to see if anybody had called 911 as he was driving there to investigate.

Just as he called in, the 911 calls started coming.

When he got there, the home was in flames.

It was in the bedroom that firefighters found the body. It was not known whether it was a man or a woman.

The state fire marshal’s office was expected to investigate Monday.
