JACKSON, Miss. – A young woman is recovering at home after a bullet hit her in the back while she was at a New Year’s Eve prayer service at Jackson’s Macedonia Ministries Church.
Tonia Barnes was standing near several children when a bullet came through the building’s roof and hit her. Barnes family rushed her to the hospital, where doctors cared for and released her.
Church members believe the bullet that struck Barnes was fired by someone in the area celebrating the New Year’s arrival with gun shots toward the sky .
