Can’t Be Spring Without the Pre-Easter Freeze: Cooler Temps for the Weekend, Cover the Plants Sunday Night

JACKSON, MISS– Forget the warm spring temperatures you saw this week. It is back to jackets and frost for the weekend.

Highs will be in the 50’s across the state Saturday, with slight chances of rain statewide. As the day progresses, temps will dip into overnight lows in the mid-30’s. Sunday is more of the same, but overnight lows closer to the freezing point have the National Weather Service predicting a late season freeze for the central portion of the Magnolia state, with the coolest temperatures and higher risk for a freeze in the Eastern portion of Mississippi.

The freezing isn’t anything dangerous, according to forecasters, but you will want to cover your plants. The temps will drop cool enough for the frost to set in late Sunday night into the wee hours of Monday morning.
