JACKSON, Miss.- The seat for District 25 has been decided and it goes to, Walter Michel.
Michel ran against Bill Bilingsly in what turned out to be a controversial race when ballots were mixed up and distributed to a few incorrect precincts.
Another news source jumped the gun and announced Michel the winner over 2 weeks ago when dozens of ballot boxes had yet to be counted. Well the final total came in.
Bill Billingsly: 10,026
Walter Michel: 10,361
It was a close race but in the end Michel took home the win.
A motion was filed to have a new election and split the 4 precincts up but that was denied by the Election Commission who voted it down 3-1.
Bilingsly congratulated Michel and said he will not take any legal action to have the decision changed.
