Captured Not So Far From Home: Escaped Inmate Jason Elliot Manzingo

BATESVILLE, Miss.–Escaped inmate Jason Elliot Manzingo got as far as Batesville before U.S. Marshals put the cuffs on him and took him back to jail Wednesday. He escaped from the Perry County lockup in the early hours Tuesday morning.

Manzingo was found along with a GMC Envoy he stole from Paul B. Johnson State Park shortly after his escape.

WDAM reports the capture was just after 5 p.m.

Manzingo had first stolen an ’85 Toyota, but when investigators arrived at Paul B. Johnson Park, they discovered that he had stolen not only the ’03 Envoy, but also four cans of gas.

They didn’t get him past the state line, though. Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith thanked the MBI, U.S. Marshals and local police.
