Chainsaw Artist Begins Work in Jones Park

GULFPORT, Miss. –  He’s at it again.

The wood carving artesian is back in Gulport repurposing an old dead live oak into a sculpture.

Dayton Scoggins did the same thing immediately following hurricane Katrina back in 2005.

His paint brush of choice is a chainsaw, which he uses to etch and carve amongst the tree.

The theme for this particular tree he is working on is “Nautical.”

It is expected to take him and his crew two days to finish.ne is the slug.
