Your Choice at the Polls: Mississippians Attempt to Elect New Representatives Tuesday

MOSS POINT, Miss.–Billy Broomfield no longer has to worry about the political hustle at the state capitol. He was elected mayor of Moss Point this time around and Tuesday the electorate of House District 110 went to the polls to choose his replacement. But, the race was too close and Jeramy Anderson, with 902 votes, will face Aneice Liddell, with 634 votes, in a runoff Nov. 26.

Anderson, 21, is a student at Tulane University, while Liddell used to be mayor.

Oscar Denton won the race to fill the seat of George Flaggs, who was elected mayor of Vicksburg, according to unofficial results. The 39-year AT&T employee got 55 percent of the vote.

Results from the special election to fill the seat of Kelvin Buck of Holly Springs had not been published as of early Wednesday.
