Church Hit With Multiple Lightening Strikes, Gutted by Fire

EAGLE LAKE, Miss.–The storm that was responsible for burning Eagle Lake Baptist Church came between morning and evening worship Sunday. The church structure is still standing, but the fire took out the insides.

It was a storm that had a lot of ground to cloud lightening. WAPT reported the church took more than 180 lightening strikes, but did not source that claim.

Church members told the TV station they were grateful that no one was there when the resulting fire wreaked its damage and that they intend to rebuild.

More storms were possible Monday.
