Clarke County to sell alcohol

With Clarke County voters approving the sale of alcohol, that only leave six dry counties in the state of Mississippi. 

In a vote on Tuesday, Nov. 7, residents of the county voted to legalize the sale of beer, wine, and liquor inside the county. Officials like Mayor Eddie Fulton and other local business owners were in support of the change to increase revenue.

However, some pastors and religious individuals opposed the move.

The vote is as follows:

For the sale of beer: 2804 voted yes, 1915 voted no

For the sale of liquor: 2675 voted yes, 1795 voted no.
