Cochran Campaign Says Senator McDaniel Should Have Reported Clayton Kelly (AUDIO)

JACKSON, Miss. – Senator Thad Cochran’s campaign is accusing State Senator Chris McDaniel of not reporting Clayton Kelly, who is accused of taking unauthorized photos of Cochran’s bedridden wife at a Madison nursing home and compiling them in an online video, saying McDaniel had an obligation to do so because he is an attorney.

“Senator McDaniel took no action to alert no law enforcement authorities when his campaign had direct knowledge of the crime and we did, and the guy is in jail as a result of our actions,” said Russell.

Cochran’s campaign spokesperson Jordan Russell told reporters Wednesday during a teleconference that the Cochran campaign learned about the video after it was posted on April 26, but did not file charges until three weeks after the fact.
