STARKVILLE, Miss.–Mississippi State is No. 1 in the college AP Poll for the first time ever. It was the Bulldogs decisive 38 to 23 victory over the No. 2 Auburn Tigers Saturday that propelled them to the top and took Auburn down several notches to No. 6. Meanwhile, the Ole Miss Rebels are at No. 3.

State quarterback Dak Prescott remains a contender for the Heisman, completing 246 passing yards and running for 121 in Saturday’s game.

For Ole Miss, it was the first week they’ve had No. 1 picks this season. The Rebs defeated Texas A&M at College Station 35 to 20.

Meanwhile, Delta State remains undefeated at 5-0, with a Thursday victory over Shorter University, 35 to 20.
