HATTIESBURG, Mississippi– If you’ve ever dreamed of learning to dance along with a song that doesn’t tell you to put your right foot in, next week could be your chance.
Imagine gliding across the floor, feet not making a sound, mastering the moves. If that’s something you want to learn, then National Ballroom Dance Week next week is a great time. And USA Dance Hattiesburg-Laurel has you covered with free dance lessons, workshops, and social dances.
“We’re celebrating ballroom dancing,” says USA Dance President Karen Adams.
When you think ballroom dancing, you may look down at your two left feet and feel somewhat hopeless. Adams says that’s not necessary.
“You don’t have to have a particular skill level,” Adams says for the inexperienced,”we have several great dancers ready to show the basics, enough to get moving.”
The classes are free and there’s also social dances that are ticketed events. The kick-off dance is Saturday at the Thirsty Hippo in Hattiesburg. You can see USA Dance’s website for the full schedule.
