DUI Wreck Kills One Year Old in 2013, Man Gets 30 Years Thursday

JACKSON, Miss.–Convicted of a DUI wreck that killed 22-month-old Christopher Salas in 2013, Brett Prince got a 30-year sentence Thursday from Hinds County Judge Jeff Weill on five counts of aggravated DUI.

The crash happened in Hinds County at Hwy. 18 and Springridge Rd. It’s a busy intersection, with fast traffic on a four-lane highway and Springridge crossing the highway as a two-lane county road.

The jury convicted Prince of being drunk when his truck hit an SUV that was carrying Salas’ family, including his brother, who is now in a wheelchair. He’s five.

Salas was bucked into his car seat when the wreck happened.
