Educating School Choice

HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. — It’s National School Choice Week.

From rallies, to school fairs and open houses, more than 30 events are being held across Mississippi this week to help make sure you are aware of the options available for your child’s education.

A program and school choice chant contest was held at Holy Family Catholic School in Holly Springs, one of the schools participating in this weeks’ activities. “Hopefully our voice can be heard in an areas where there is no choice and bring options to those areas.  I think that’s what National School Choice Week is about,” said school Counselor Regina Braswell.

National School Choice Week spotlights all types of education options for families – including traditional public schools, public magnet schools, charter schools, private schools, online learning and homeschooling.

“These options are important because the public school systems, as a whole, have not been producing the type of education that parents are wanting for their children, said Braswell.

In addition to raising awareness of school choice options in Mississippi, National School Choice Week also provides students, parents and teachers with an opportunity to call on leaders to expand access to high-quality education environments for children.
