The electric cooperatives in Mississippi have activated their emergency response plan and are ready to assist in restoring electric service in areas affected by tropical storm Nate.
“At this time, employees across the state are prepared for dispatching to areas threatened by the storm with the necessary equipment and supplies to restore power in a safe and quick manner,” said Michael Callahan, CEO of Electric Cooperative of Mississippi.
Callahan said that a critical part of being prepared for a storm is having enough manpower to restore power after a storm.
“We can provide additional linemen, vehicles, and supplies to help speed the restoration process and help minimize the impact to our members,” said Callahan. “In addition to our own personnel, we have a mutual aid agreement with electric cooperatives throughout the southeast region ready to assist in our restoration efforts.”
As part of that agreement, the company recently had 330 of their employees assisting in restoring power during the aftermath of Hurricane Irma.
