Six injured in Friday Hattiesburg Shooting

Six people were injured in a shooting in Hattiesburg late Friday night.

The shooting occurred on Hwy 49 behind La Fiesta Brava, a bar/restaurant, and when officers arrived on the scene shots were fired as the suspect(s) fled the scene in a vehicle. Hattiesburg Police have stated that no injuries were sustained from the gunfire between the officers and the fleeing vehicle.

At this time, the Hattiesburg Police Department has not named any suspects in the case.

All six of those injured in the shooting suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to a media release, the victims were already being transported for medical care when officers arrived. Four of the six injured are from Laurel, Ellisville, and Waynesboro, but none of their names have been released.

The release also stated that an internal affairs investigation will be conducted, as is procedure when an officer fires his or her weapon.
