COLUMBIA, S.C.–Extensive and deadly flooding in South Carolina is making for some exhausting work for their emergency management personnel. Mississippi answered the call over the past several days and sent some of our own experts to help out.

One of those is Brett Carr, a public information officer with MEMA, described by his boss, Robert Latham, as one of the most experienced PIOs in the country.

MEMA’s logistics chief and n operations officer were also sent to South Carolina.

South Carolina specifically requested Mississippi’s people through a mutual agreement that has emergency management teams in all 50 states connected, called the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.

South Carolina is footing the bill.
