A special election was held yesterday in Forrest County. The election will fill the House District 102 seat.

Four candidates ran in the election yesterday. Cory Ferraez, Missy Warren McGee, Casey Mercier and Kathryn Rehner.

Gwen Wilks, the Forrest County Clerk said that they had a larger than normal election turn out during the special election yesterday

Of those four candidates, Missy Warren McGee and Kathryn Rehner will have to face off on October 3rd in a runoff election.

According to the Forrest County Clerk, Gwen Wilks,  McGee received 44.74% of the vote while Rehner had 24.39%.

While state law requires that candidates cannot affiliate with a certain political party during a special election, Rehner has publicly vowed to caucus with Democrats if elected and it would end the Republic supermajority in the House.
