Four Arrested after Standoff with Columbus Police

COLUMBUS, Miss.- A standoff this morning for nearly four hours led to the arrest of four people after they fired shots at Columbus police.

Officers on foot patrol said shots were fired at them about 3 a.m. Sunday. Two men then ran into an apartment close by and wouldn’t come out.

WCBI reported the men would not come out of the apartment or respond to negotiation attempts.

The SWAT team was called, entered the apartment and took down the men around 7 a.m. Four suspects were taken into custody without incident. Two of the suspects will be formally charged on Tuesday.

A weapon was also recovered. Police are still investigating.
