Police Brutality Case Against Mississippi Deputy Dismissed

MCCOMB, Miss. – A police brutality case against a Pike County sheriff’s deputy has been thrown out.

The mother of a 16-year-old wanted to bring criminal charges against Deputy Smithie Buie, Jr.  Toshiba Lewis claimed deputies handcuffed her son, and threw him to the ground, injuring his lips, legs and hands on September 6.

The case against Buie was dismissed last week by Judge Breland Hilburn, Jr. after a probable cause hearing.
