Gautier Voters Reject New Tax for Recreation

GAUTIER, Miss.–It’s a thumbs down to the new tax proposed to help pay for recreation in Gautier, but not a huge thumbs down.

The voters went to the polls Tuesday to decide if they wanted a two cent hike to pay for parks improvements. Sixty percent of the vote was needed, but the final score was 54 percent, reported WLOX.

The tax would have charged you extra if you stayed in a hotel or ate at a Gautier restaurant.
