JACKSON, MISS– If you get a call from someone saying the IRS is coming to get you, call the police, because it’s a scam.
“We have numerous calls from people all over the state about receiving calls from someone about an immediate payment. They claim to be with the IRS,” says John O’Hara with the Mississippi Better Business Bureau.
O’Hara says the IRS won’t let you know they’re coming to get you.
“And they won’t call you and hassle you for immediate payment,” they’ll send a letter.”
If you get a call of this nature, call your local sheriff’s department.
