Glitch in computer system flags Mississippi drivers licenses

JACKSON, Miss.- The Mississippi Department of Public Safety has identified a computer glitch that has caused some Mississippians’ drivers licenses to be falsely labeled as suspended.

“Some Mississippi drivers license holders were notified that their license had been suspended or was no longer valid,” said a statement from DPS spokesperson Warren Strain. “This was an error with the automated process DPS uses.”

They have contacted the contractor, MorphoTrust USA, to ensure the error has been corrected. Also, the contractor’s actions will be reviewed by agency officials to determine remedies needed to avoid this situation in the future.

Anyone who has received letters dated between December 11th and December 19th, 2016 are requested to contact the Driver Records Division at (601) 987-1224 immediately.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety regrets any inconvenience this error may have caused.
