OLIVE BRANCH – 67 guns were stolen from a tractor-trailer before the delivery was made to a North Mississippi sporting goods story.

Don Gammage, Chief of Police with the Olive Branch Police Department said on Sunday night a delivery driver making a delivery to Academy Sports in Olive Branch parked the trailer in the store parking lot. The store did not open again until 6:00 a.m. the next morning.

At some point in the night 67 weapons, 63 handguns, 2 shotguns, 2 A-R15’s, were stolen from the trailer before the delivery could be made. Employees discovered the shipment had been stolen when they arrived to open the store.

“Right now we are trying to make sure we work quickly to try and get these guns off the street before they hit the black market,” said Gamich.

It has not been discovered how much ammunition was taken.

Police are reviewing video footage from the store, but have no suspects at this time.
