GULFPORT, Miss. –A man arrested for stealing a patrol car says he was abused by Jackson County’s Sheriff and a deputy.
John Stahl was arrested last summer.
He says when Sheriff Mike Byrd showed up at the scene, he was handcuffed and facing a patrol car.
Stahl says Byrd told him that he embarrassed him and his deputies and then kicked him in the groin, twice.
He also claims a deputy stomped him in the head.
And once in the patrol car, Stahl says Byrd told him that he was going to do everything he could to make sure he (Stahl) would spend the rest of his life in jail.
