Horn Lake Manhunt, Kidnapping and Shooting at Police Officers

HORN LAKE, Miss. — In what appears to be the second kidnapping and third incidence of shooting at police in one week in the state, law enforcement officers are looking for two men in Horn Lake now.

“We received info from Batesville and Tallahatchie that two suspects were possibly dropped off in the Horn Lake area,” said Detective Sgt. Joseph Keene. “We tried to work with both of them in an attempt to locate those two gentlemen.”

The Panolian reports the two male suspects had kidnapped a man north of Batesville on Friday morning and made him drive north.  After they got to Horn Lake the men got out of the truck.

“As far as we know through witness statements, the two men were dropped off at the Arby’s lot in Horn Lake and from there cameras just show them going eastbound on foot.”

Sgt. Keene said that he had heard shots possibly were fired Friday at an officer’s vehicle when the men were fleeing.

“Some of those shots went into the Batesville officer’s car,” he said.

No one has been reported as injured and the man hunt is still ongoing.

Apparently charges and crimes have spanned several days and counties throughout the week of Christmas.
