Hot Weather Hits Mississippi With Little Rain Relief

JACKSON, Miss.–Hot weather is here. It’s that part of the summer when temps start to become much less tolerable and you can expect mid 90s for the middle of the week.

The hottest area of the state will be south and on the coast, with 95 today and possible 96 degree days Wednesday through Friday.

Central will see 94 today, with 94 and 95 degree days the rest of the week. Meantime, north Mississippi will see 94 to 95 straight through to Friday.

The good news: there is a slight chance for a shower Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening.

Mississippi health and weather officials held a press conference Monday at the state’s National Weather Service headquarters to remind you that leaving a child in a car during hot weather is never acceptable.

Each year Mississippi has lost children to heat-related deaths after they’ve been left in hot automobiles. Remember that a child’s body heats up much faster than an adult and the tolerance level is much lower.

Temps over the weekend are expected to remain in the 90s.
