A man died of a gunshot would to the head after an altercation with Biloxi Police Officers.

The Harrison County Coroner Gary Hargrove has confirmed the identity of the man shot as 61-year-old Vincent Dronet of Biloxi.

Hargrove confirmed the cause of death, but it is still unclear who fired the fatal shot. He said that information will most likely not be released until the case goes to Grand Jury.

The incident began after officers recieved a report of someone shoplifting at the Home Depot on Cedar Lake Road. Police noticed a truck leaving the lot an attempted to pull the driver, Dronet, over. Dronet did not comply and led police on a chase down a dirt road near Camp Wilkes Road.

An altercation then occurred and a stun gun was deployed. Dronet continued driving, almost hitting another officer and shots were fired.

The shooting is being investigated by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.
