Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula is looking to hire hundreds of people by the end of 2018. One of the largest employers in the state, Ingalls works to build ships for the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard.

The military contractor says they are preparing to hire 500 new employees and are holding a job fair on Saturday, August 4th to fill openings including pipefitters, pipewelders, shipfitters, welders, and test engineers.

“We are ramping up production on numerous ships under contract or construction,” said George Jones, Vice President of Operations for Ingalls. “Working at Ingalls isn’t just a job. It’s your chance to serve our nation and apply unique skills to some of the most challenging work you’ll ever do.”

Jones added that offers will be made on-the-spot for qualified candidates and said people should apply online before coming to the hiring fair.
