Insurance Commissioner Chaney praises Obamacare replacement

American Healthcare Act cleared its first hurdle in Washington yesterday, after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the measure. It now moves on to the Senate.

The effort to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, could have big repercussions for Mississippi.

State insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney released a statement yesterday saying: “The Republican health care bill to overhaul the Affordable Care Act has received approval in the U. S House of Representatives. This action is a first step forward in bringing significant changes to consumer health care and health care insurance, and returning more regulatory authority to the states.”

The statement went on to say the action from Capitol Hill is a first step forward in stabilizing health care costs, and will give Mississippians options for new, flexible healthcare plans and more choices for health care providers.
