Jackson Cop Accused of Extortion

JACKSON, Miss.- A police officer in Jackson has been accused of extortion.

Officer Bryan Jones, 44,  is being charged with extortion by abusing his position of authority as a police officer. A complaint was fined with the U.S. Attorney’s office on Thursday.

They said that Jones is being accused of assisting drug dealers by arresting their competitors at illegal traffic stops. He has also been charged with conducting illegal searches and seizures.
