Jackson’s 51st and 52nd homicides of 2017

JACKSON’S 51ST HOMICIDE
The Jackson Police Department is investigating the City’s 51st homicide after responding to the 3200 block of Woodview Dr.
At approximately 9:00 a.m. Sunday morning, officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle call.
When they arrived, they found a dark colored sedan park on the side of the road with what appeared to be bullet holes on the driver’s side.

They later observed a female in the driver’s seat suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, one of which was to the head.

It is still unclear what time the shooting occurred.  Officers are canvassing the street to find anyone who may have heard or seen anything.

The identity of the victim is still unknown as well as information about the individual(s) responsible for this crime.

JACKSON’S 52ND HOMICIDE
Jackson Police are investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred Sunday morning, shortly after 4:00 a.m.  Officers responded the intersection of Mill St. and Oakley St. where they found female lying on the ground bleeding from the neck.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for immediate medical treatment where she later died from her injuries.
JPD said that from information gathered at the scene, there was an altercation between two females inside a vehicle parked in a lot near a night club.  The altercation somehow led to one of the females stabbing the other in the neck.
Police have been able to identify at least one witness and are still working to gather additional information about what happened and about the other person involved.
Police say that the actual motive is still unknown but it is believed that alcohol may have been involved in the incident.
The victim has been identified as, 26-year-old, Shevondria Mack. This investigation is ongoing.
