Keeping Safe During a Project: Atmos Energy Says Call Before You Dig on 811 Day

JACKSON, MISS– It is August 11, or 8-11, and Atmos Energy is reminding you to dial 811 before digging for a work or residential project.

“It’s the law in every state to call 811 at least two days before digging,” said John McDill, Atmos Energy’s vice president of pipeline safety. “The 811 program is provided at no charge to save you time and money as well as to prevent threats to life and property.”

Mississippi 811 encourages folks to call before even the smallest digging projects to avoid damaging water, gas, and electrical lines on the property. Making that call can also prevent injury or death from hitting the lines.

To request a locator on your property before a dig, see the Mississippi 811 website at www.ms1call.org.
