TUPELO, Miss.–Sex with a girl under 16 got Mario Duvawn Cayson, who is 26, a 15 year sentence this week in Lee County court. He will have to serve that sentence day for day, which means no getting out early.
The jury of seven men and five women only took twenty minutes to return the guilty verdict.
District Attorney John Weddle said he is “Pleased with the verdict and extremely thankful for the thorough investigation by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. Investigator Donna Franks, under Sheriff Jim Johnson’s leadership, solved this case quickly and presented convincing evidence that resulted in a short deliberation for the jury.”
Cayson will also have to register as a sex offender for life.
