Keesler back to normal after high alert morning

The Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi  issued a “real world” alert regarding a potential armed suspect on the base.

The suspect was named as Bruce Sledge.

Sledge is a retired E-5 service member who was on base at the time of the incident. An individual overheard discussions of a weapon and reported the discussion to the base security forces.

There was no active shooter or attack and as such there were no injuries. The incident has been resolved at this time and the base implemented enhanced security procedures out of an abundance of caution in the interest of public safety.

“We are working with local authorities to resolve this matter. We are back to normal building operations at this time, but members can expect delays entering the base,” said 81st Training Wing PIO Suzanna Plotnikov.

The first alerts went out just after 10am.

“Be on the look out for Bruce Sledge. Proceed with caution. Individual may be armed. Suspect is driving a red four door truck. If seen, report to 911 or SFS,” was posted to the Keesler AFB Facebook page.

 

Via Twitter, The 81st Training Wing of Keesler described the vehicle the suspect is driving a red four door truck.

If seen, report to 911 or SFS at 377-3040.
