TUPELO, Miss.–Kidnapping charges have been filed against Jamie Marie Wallace, 22, of Tupelo, after law enforcement began a search for Dawson Martez Perkins, 3, Sunday afternoon. An amber alert was issued by the Highway Patrol, but the search was called off in an hour’s time after the two were located in south Lee County.
Wallace was described by police as an acquaintance of the boy’s parents.
Police said the kidnapping may have happened Saturday afternoon. They did not explain a motive for the crime.
More info was expected to be released Monday.
