WASHINGTON COUNTY, Miss. – A Washington County Health Department worker has been arrested for using a child’s fake info  to get government food benefits.

The State Auditor’s office is accusing Kenyatta Smith of  pulling the welfare scam 14 times over two years while working as a clerk.  “There are many families in Mississippi who depend on the WIC program,” said State Auditor Stacey Pickering.  “It is unfortunate that people abuse the system when there are so many in need.
Smith has been indicted on one count of embezzlement; and she is facing a demand to payback more than $3,600.
