Lawmaker Wants to Clarify Castle Doctrine Law

JACKSON, Miss. — If you shoot and kill someone on your property, depending on the circumstances, you may no longer be protected from prosecution under the state’s Castle Doctrine law.

That’s if Rep. Deborah Dixon, D- Raymond, gets her way.  Dixon is working to clarify the law, saying it’s too vague.  She wants the shooter drug tested and to add a provision to the law that says if a person is shot more than 30 feet from the entry way of your home, the law no longer applies.
