Tony Wilson, the man wanted in a Lawrence County murder and arson, has been found dead from an apparent suicide. The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the death via a Facebook post earlier today.

Wilson had been on the run since December 20 from Lawrence County after reports that a land dispute between Wilson and Peavy led to Wilson shooting Peavy and setting his home on fire. Lawrence County Sheriff Lessie Butler said that Wilson and Peavy have fought over the ownership of the land which Peavy was granted the title to.

Officers responded to the scene on Frog Ridge Road where they found Peavy’s body. Peavy’s wife was burned by the fire and taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center. No update on her condition has been stated.

Despite initial reports from the scene that officials had Wilson surrounded, he was able to evade officers. The Mississippi Department of Public Safety took over the investigation, and law enforcement continued to search for Wilson since the day of the incident.
