PHILADELPHIA, Miss.–The place that helps you get a job was set to unemploy several as it closed down in June in Philadelphia. But, thanks to a local effort, the WIN Job Center was set to reopen Tuesday on a part-time basis.
The Center had been set to close as part of federal funding cuts. The state’s Dept. of Employment Security operates WIN Job Centers with federal funds and was forced to shut down several centers earlier in the summer, putting several out of work at each center and cutting services to people looking for jobs.
But, a partnership between “entities” in Neshoba County employment people of the state and federal levels, the Center will operate Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 to 5 in a new location.
“We’re pleased with this new partnership with the local entities in Neshoba County who are providing funding so that we can operate the Philadelphia WIN Job Center on a part-time basis,” said Mark Henry, executive director of the Mississippi Department of Employment Security. “Helping Mississippians get jobs is a team effort and we applaud the local leadership for making this investment that allows us to maintain a presence in the community.”
