Long List Of Folks Want To Replace Sheriff

JACKSON, Miss. — Jackson County Supervisors have released the list of candidates who have applied to be the next sheriff.

The deadline to get resumes in was Friday morning.  Supervisors hope to narrow the list and appoint someone by early January.  That person will serve until a special election is held in November.  The job became available after Mike Byrd pleaded guilty to witness tampering and resigned.
