Alcorn State University President Resigns

LORMAN, Miss. — It was announced on Thursday that Alcorn State University president M. Christopher Brown had turned in his letter of resignation.

His stepping down comes in the middle of an investigation by the state auditor’s office into the spending practices at the university that has already seen two other employees resign.

IHL Commissioner Hank Bounds said at a press conference that they would start looking for a replacement for Brown immediately.

Norris Edney, a former interim president for the university, will now take over immediately as the acting president.

Brown had been in his position since 2010.
