Lower Mississippi River Back Open After Spill

NEW ORLEANS, La. — The lower Mississippi River is back open. There was an oil spill this weekend near New Orleans that closed about about 70 miles of the river. The coast guard started letting ships pass through slowly Monday afternoon.

A tank barge hit a tug boat Saturday and spilled over 31,000 gallons of oil. About 30 vessels were backed up along the river.
