Magnolia Film Festival kicks off Thursday

The 20th annual Magnolia Independent Film Festival will take place March 2 – 4 at Hollywood Premier Cinemas in Starkville as a showcase for independent filmmakers.

The Magnolia Independent Film Festival was created in 1997 by Ron Tibbett. It wass the first film festival to be held in Mississippi and now attracts filmmakers from around the world. The festival strives to provide the Golden Triangle community with an opportunity to experience the films of many talented filmmakers.

The 2017 festival will feature 3 red carpet events, a special VIP lounge, a special 20th year anniversary celebration reception, a workshop by Oxford Festival Director Melanie Addington, and films from Mississippi, the rest of the US, and other countries.

“We’ve had a record number of submissions this year and are very pleased with the variety and quality that we have received,” said Festival Chair Angella Baker. “Last year’s festival was well attended and ended on a high note. This one is going to be even better. We hope everyone will come out and enjoy it.”
