A man has been charged in connection with a Vicksburg Shooting.

On Wednesday, officers with the Vicksburg Police Department responded to the Klondyke Restaurant on North Washington Street and learned that one person had been shot. By the time officers arrived at the scene, the man had been taken to the hospital in a personal vehicle.

During their initial investigation, a witness told police that a fight broke out inside of the restaurant and eventually spilled out into the parking lot. Once the fight was outside, a man pulled a handgun out and shot 64-year-old Billy Joe Harrison in the chest. Harrison was last listed in stable, but critical condition.

A media release says that the witness identified 58-year-old James Jeffery McBroom as the shooter. McBroom was arrested following the incident and was later charged with aggravated assault.

McBroom is awaiting his initial appearance in court.
