ELLISVILLE, Miss. — It is official. After months of speculation, second-term state Senator Chris McDaniel says he will run for the U.S. Senate in 2014.
McDaniel announced his intentions today in his hometown of Ellisville; and has already picked up the endorsement of the Senate Conservatives Fund.
The Senate seat he’s campaigning for is currently held by longtime incumbent Thad Cochran. He turns 76 this year and is expected to announce in the coming weeks if he will seek re-election or not.
