MDOT now offers hurricane preparedness info in Spanish

JACKSON, MISS. — The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) now offers essential hurricane preparedness resources in Spanish. Inline image 1

The free 2016 Hurricane Evacuation Guide and Hurricane Emergency Checklist are now available for download in both English and Spanish.

The guide includes information on evacuation routes, contraflow, radio coverage areas through Mississippi Public Broadcasting, the Mississippi Highway Patrol, American Red Cross, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency and bordering state DOTs and highway patrols.

Individuals and families will also find vital information on shelters, pet care, 211 MS, lodging and travel resources. To order the guide, visit GoMDOT.com/maps or call 601-359-7045

The Hurricane Emergency Checklist provides recommendations on what to pack inside a survival kit and details on how to prepare your home in case of an emergency. Both the guide and the checklist can be downloaded for free at GoMDOT.com/hurricanes. Printed copies can be ordered on request at GoMDOT.com/maps. To download the Spanish version, click the ES tab titled Recursos De Huracanes En Español.
