Meridian Police: Child Shot Just After 5 Monday

MERIDIAN, Miss.–Shootings in the Queen City are definitely not unheard of, but police Monday were looking for someone they say shot a child. The child was hit in the chest, but officers were not being generous with much more info.

WTOK reported the child, whose name and age and even the exact address were not given by police, was taken to a Meridian hospital and then flown to another hospital for treatment. Exactly how bad the child was hurt was not clear.

It happened just after 5 p.m. and there may have been someone else in the home, playing with a gun.

No charges had been filed as of Monday.

At another home police were looking into whoever fired bullets into the house. They did have someone they were questioning in that incident.
